Dr. Marvin Wells is a Jacksonville native, having received his undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Dentistry. His residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery was completed at the Downstate Medical School / Kings County Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Dr. Wells opened his oral and maxillofacial surgery practice in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1980. He now maintains offices in Jacksonville and St. Augustine, enabling him to provide service to patients from divergent areas of Florida's First Coast, North Florida and South Georgia.
Dr. Wells has served as an assistant professor in the University of Florida's College of Dentistry, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has also lectured extensively throughout Florida and nationally on various subjects relating to his specialty, including reconstructive and orthognathic surgery, dental implants, arthroscopic and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery, facial trauma, and surgery for the removal of impacted teeth.
He maintains staff privileges at the following Florida hospitals: Baptist Medical Center of Jacksonville, Wolfson Children's Hospital of Jacksonville, St. Vincent's Hospital of Jacksonville, Memorial Hospital of Jacksonville, Shands Hospital of Jacksonville, and Flagler Hospital of St. Augustine. Dr. Wells currently serves as Chief of the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Service at St. Vincent's Southside Hospital in Jacksonville.
Dr. Wells is a member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, National Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and Florida Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has been a lecturer for all three organizations. He also holds membership in the American Association of Hospital Dentists, the American Society of Dental Anesthesiology, and the American Dental Association.
